Mythical Pokemon 2016 - Who's Who: CELEBI

Let's take a brief look at who's coming out to play in 2016 Mythical Collection boxsets:

CELEBI - Release date: March 2016

Celebi
(Japanese: セレビィ Celebi)
Generation II

CELEBI IN A NUT SHELL

Celeibi, who kinda looks like an alien version of tinkerbell, is a dual-type Psychic/Grass Mythical Pokemon that mainly resides at the Ilex Forest west of Azalea Town.

Celebi is more an event Pokemon, which means it can only be obtained through events.

Around the time of the release of the Generation II video games, Celebi was called the rarest Pokemon of all due to the fact that it was only available at ONE event, in JAPAN, exclusively for Pokemon Crystal. Pokemon was really making us work for our Celebi's back then.

Now a bit more accessible, Celebi acts as a chain to unlock other events in different video games. In Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver after obtaining a Celebi through an event, it will let the player travel through time to show the past between Silver and Giovanni which contains the actual hate of Silver against Team Rocket and his tough attitude. In Pokemon Black and White it can let you obtain Zorua if you transfer Celebi from HeartGold and SoulSilver through Pokemon Black and Pokemon White.

Celebi also makes an appearance in Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. A shiny Celebi makes an appearance in Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness as a temporary part of the team during the storyline.

Celebi is the last Pokemon in the Johto Pokedex and Hoenn Pokedex iCelebi XY111 Promo Card available in Mythical Celebi Boxsetsn Generation III, although in the latter, Celebi is not shown.

POKEMON TRIVIA - The mysterious GS Ball found by Professor Ivy in the Orange Islands contains Celebi!

FILM APPEARANCES:
  • Celebi: Voice of the Forest
  • Zoroark: Master of Illusions
Reception

Since it appeared in the Pokemon series, Celebi has been featured in numerous pieces of merchandise, including figures, plush toys, and the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

A Game Boy Advance featuring art of Celebi on its box as well as two white silhouettes of it on the unit itself was released as a promotion. The system changes colors depending on how it is held. A promotional e-Card was released at Space World 2001 that, when scanned, would feature Celebi floating around on the player's Game Boy Advance screen eating apples off of a tree.
