Mythical Pokemon 2016 – Who’s Who: ARCEUS

Let's take a brief look at who's coming out to play in 2016 Mythical Collection boxsets:

ARCEUS - Release date: August 2016

Arceus (Japanese: アルセウス Arceus) Generation IV

This not-entirely-friendly-looking chap is thought to have created the entire Pokemon world, the Sinnoh region, the lake guardians: Uxie, Azelf, Mesprit, and the creation trio: Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Because of this, Arceus is thought to be the oldest of all Pokémon species.

Arceus has the power to recreate the creation trio, presumably to guard the dimensions when a Trainer has caught one of them. According to the anime, its power can also bring back things that it once destroyed, make certain things vanish into thin air, and to halt time. So, don't mess with him.

While it is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokemon, it will change type when holding a Plate.

Like Darkrai and Shaymin before it, Arceus was not officially recognized by Nintendo until February 14, 2009, the year of its debut movie. It was officially revealed to international audiences on August 3, 2009.

Arceus signature move is Judgment, and it is the only non-dragon type Pokemon (other than Smeargle with sketch) to be able to learn Draco Meteor, although it must be holding a Draco Plate to do so.
Arceus is the most powerful Pokemon of them all and the first Pokemon that has a variety of types due to the plates it holds.
  • Arceus and the Jewel of Life
  • Hoopa and the Clash of Ages
  • Diamond & Pearl series - Episode: The Battle Finale of Legend!
Arceus is an event Pokemon, that in order to catch you must first obtain the Azure Flute. During an event, you need to find the Hall of Origin - go to Spear Pillar at the top of Mt. Coronet. Once there, the Azure Flute will play, causing stairs to appear. By taking these stairs, one can enter the Hall of Origin. Arceus appears at level 80. Once Arceus is captured or defeated, you cannot visit the Hall of Origin again.
